The Mars Travolta is a classic Scissor Shock album from my late friend Adam Cooley (R.I.P. fam!!!) Originally released on now defunct imprint JK Tapes back in 2006 as a spray-painted CDr disc housed inside a black box in an edition of 50, long gone and literally impossible to find. Never even sold on DISCOGS. We had talked about doing a re-issue of this at some point back in 2009, but went with their early discography release instead for the time being. Digging through some of my collections recently of music from people I came up with and was inspired by, I decided it would be a good move to re-issue this album in 2021 because very few people got to hear this tbh. The music of Scissor Shock is like a genre of it's own (or like A HUNDRED genres candyflipping at a million light years per second as the leader of some strange toxic mouse mutation kingdom underneath the sewers of Indiana. I am archiving this as a historical and educational artifact of MySpace era cybergrind, the glory daze of Net Releases and labels who would barely be recalled these days...Scissor Shock was a huge inspiration to me and my project Dental Work, and I am beyond ecstatic that I got to work with him officially many times and even collaborated with him and released his music and films on Placenta Recordings.
